One of the admittedly less important things about Cowen that nonetheless cheeses me off mightily is that because he occasionally mentions Elliott Carter his presumably less high modernist savvy rightwing econo-peers assume that not only is he an economics genius, he's also a cultural guru.
But quite a lot of what he has to say about classical music is drivel. I can't take seriously a man who thinks the B Minor Sonata is one of Liszt's most overrated works.
