Thursday Music Link

Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet.

While looking for a Youtube clip of the 1975 version without Tom Waits (there isn't one), I was repeatedly offered "Get Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet Sent To Your Phone As A Ringtone". The possibilities of that one are endless.

  1. Along with Philip Glass, Bolt Thrower and early Swans, this is on Mrs J's 'Do Not Play While I'm in the House' list.

That was a hell of a jam session.

  3. While my wife would concur with the rest of the list, she's quite fond of Bryars.

If you have kids one of the joys is persuading them to like music that your partner hates. This of course can go both ways. I get 80s hardcore, my wife managed something horrific involving women wailing about periods.

  4. hahaha that's brilliant. I didn't realise you could do it on purpose, but have chortled merrily as Mrs Digest ground her teeth through a 200 mile car journey during which the kids demanded "Silver Machine! Silver Machine!" repeatedly for about thirty plays.

  5. TBH, This is one of the things that I'm most looking forward to about impending parenthood.

  6. My brother came to hate the Dixie Chicks when his 5 and 7 year old daughters were playing them five times a day, but then they made their anti-Bush statement and he had to like them.

That's right, folks, for a few months in 2003 the boldest political commentators in the US were the members of a popped-up bluegrass and old-timey band.
