Thursday Music Link
The people who didn't like the disco/classical crossovers last week are going to hate my current Daniel Barenboim/The Wurzels mashup project - "I've got a brand new Hammerklavier".
wait, hold the phone - i'm missing something. to me, the derek bailey is fantastic, the worst song in the world is actually just bland, and julian bream playing the lute for stravinsky is just julian bream playing the lute for stravinsky. if the reason i'm not getting the comments here is because everyone else is smarter, that's cool, i'm not uptight about that kind of thing.
I can't speak for the Bream or the joke worst song mix, but I put the Bailey link up because "Ballads" is a really good album (actually I searched for his version of "Georgia on my mind" which isn't on Youtube)
I like Bailey too, and a friend of mine did that worst-song mix because she was bored between jobs. I like the way the St Winifred kids return at the end of the mix, like the Red Army marching back over the hill towards you...
Before I click the link, let me just say this:
ReplyDeleteNo, he doesn't.
also "Oi am a Zauberfloete" and "The Marriage of Figarooarr"
ReplyDeleteDrinking big jugs of Winter Rouser.
ReplyDeleteThis is where the bar is currently set.
ReplyDeleteGenuine, as they say, LOL.
ReplyDeleteHere is Julian Bream playing the lute for Stravinsky , which, until Bream starts playing, is agonisingly embarrassing.
Top tip: belle's link works even better if you repeatedly start Oliver's in the background ("Stravinsky... is waiting").
