(To be fair, the Idris Muhammad is quite listenable, and even the Deodato improves a lot if you mentally bracket out the Strauss and keep thinking of Air. But on balance, no, no, no, no, no.)
Interestingly, in a small sample admittedly, most of my acquaintances regarded the Idris Muhammad one as most unacceptable. It's my favourite too and I think it stands up as a piece of music, but it's apparently more of a travesty of the original piece.
